Eryngium planum ‘Jade Frost’ PPAF

One of the very first variegated Sea Hollies ever, Eryngium ‘Jade Frost’ has rounded, leathery leaves of blue-green with prominent white margins. New leaves emerging on cool nights have pink edges. Long lasting, violet blue, spiny flowers contribute additional colour and texture to the garden and to floral arrangements. The flowers are carried atop intensely silver-blue stems standing high above the decorative foliage. This species of Eryngium is one of the hardiest - a reliable, long-lived perennial.

Uses

Perfect in the dry border. It makes a good cut flower, fresh or dried.

Cultivation

Grow in well-drained or sandy soils in full sun. Tolerates drought. Tends to sprawl if grown in overly fertile soils or some shade. Best left undisturbed once established.
