Hosta ‘Ivory Coast’
|
A striking specimen plant, Hosta ‘Ivory Coast’ is a smaller sport of excellent H. ‘Sagae’ with much wider leaf margins. Its broadly oval, pointed leaves are grey-green with rippled, yellow margins. As the leaves mature to blue-green with ivory edges, an interesting grey-green jetting separates the two colours. Lavender flowers are produced on tall scapes in early summer.
Uses Excellent as a specimen or massed in partly shady borders, open woodland gardens or near water. Both flowers and leaves are attractive in flower arrangements. Attracts hummingbirds. Cultivation Plant in light shade in rich, well-drained soil that is average to moist. Fairly tolerant of dry soils once established. This plant demonstrates good resistance to slugs, and is not usually a favourite with rabbits.
