Papaver orientale ‘Little Candyfloss’ PPAF
|
Popular, undemanding, and very hardy, Poppies are in high demand. Dwarf ones such as Papaver ‘Little Candyfloss’ are especially so! A compact plant is much more versatile for the garden. Blooming from late spring to early summer, the plentiful flowers of this little beauty are a soft satiny pink with black-purple spots on the base, while its coarse foliage is dark green. May rebloom in fall!
Uses Use as a specimen in the border. As a fresh cut flower, harvest just when buds start to break and sear stem ends to prevent sap leakage. Seedpods are effective in dried arrangements. Attracts hummingbirds. Cultivation Poppies perform best in rich, well-drained soil and full sun. Prevent wet soil conditions in winter. Goes dormant after flowering is finished, so plant other plants nearby to fill in the gap. Not appealing to deer, or rabbits or squirrels.
