Built around 1860, the original dwelling at Centre Commons sits today in the midst of a two-acre country garden. Developed by owner Karen Carriere, this is a plant-enthusiast’s garden with vibrant and sophisticated colour schemes that rely on leaves as much as flowers. The garden is at its best from late July to fall.

Visitors will encounter a glorious abundance of the newest perennials and ornamental grasses combined with interesting trees and shrubs in informal mixed borders. Extensive landscaping over the coming seasons will ensure there are always areas of interest highlighting the latest plant varieties.

Organized group visits are welcome, by appointment, in the latter half of the summer. Donations will be gratefully accepted for Médicins sans Frontières. Organizers are invited to contact us for more information and to arrange bookings.

The Gardens of Centre Commons are featured in the latest edition of ‘Great Gardens to Visit: A Guide to Ontario’s Private Gardens’ by Patricia Singer. Our gardens have also been recognized in ‘Perennials for Ontario’ by Alison Beck and Kathy Renwald.
